Official Travel Manual of Visit Nepal Œ98,

The second major publication printed by the VNY 98 secretariat is the Official Travel Manual of Visit Nepal Œ98, an official advertisement for Nepal. Printed in English on high-quality paper, the text is a highly professional document, with slick full color photographs. While Visit Nepal ¹98: Plan of Action can be seen as the off-stage management of Nepal¹s tourism, this is the spectacle of the stage.

It begins with a full-page photograph of the (late ) King and Queen. It then has an introduction to Nepal, a map of domestic flight service, and an international aviation schedule. There is then a short history of Nepal, which concentrates on the formation of the modern nation-state and the improvements in transportation. The body of the text is taken up by tourist sites and events. It outlines the national parks and festivals and then lists incentives and conferences that take place during 1998. For the travel agent, there is a section on special interest tours, abbreviations, diplomatic missions in Nepal, and information on Royal Nepal Airline Carrier offices, as well as travel and trade associations.
